Omega 3 for better health - Fish oil
First of all I would like to say that Omega 3 is one of the most important and clearly essential supplements for general health. I would not even think twice before getting some. Omega 3 is not only a must have supplement to be found on the shelves of bodybuilders and fitness athletes, it's one of those things that each and every one of us should use. To make it simple, Omega 3 is good for relieving inflammation, joint support, preventing heart disease and arthritis, helping the brain with cognitive function, supporting fat loss and improving cholesterol levels. It also helps fight against depression and it’s good for general skin health. Beyond that there are many more benefits that you'll obtain by using Omega 3 supplements. Unfortunately, we do not get enough Omega 3 fatty acids from the food we eat today, unless you eat a good amount of fish daily.
Personally, I hate fish! I also think that supplementing Omega 3 is the most convenient way to get those important fatty acids into my system. I use Animal Omega as my primary Omega 3 supplement. It is a bit pricey but it is one of the best Omega 3 supplements offered on the market. Animal Omega is more than just fish oil which makes it an excellent product because of the high amount of EPA and DHA plus it contains Omega 6and Omega 9 as well. So basically it is a full spectrum EFA supplement. Omega 6 and 9 are not as important or rare in the Western diet as omega 3 is, but they are important part balance to the supplementation of Omega-3. If you have enough Omega 6/9 in your diet or are just looking for a simple Omega 3 product I would go with OxiMega as it increases EPA / DHA content only.

Well, many reasons: decreased risk of sudden death and arrhythmia, lower blood pressure and improved arterial health, just for a start. Also, DHA constitutes 15 of the human brains’ weight and about 60% of the brain’s cell membranes, which are responsible for their unique fluidity. One note to bodybuilders: Omega 6 fat acids may actually help with the inflammatory process to build muscle (if you don’t have any inflammatory diseases) as it’s the inflammation that begins the process of adding new tissue to muscle. So it is the balance of these that is essential. Concerns have been raised about fish oil supplements and their amount of toxins, mostly due to products made of predatory fish containing mercury, dioxins or PCBs, as they occupy the top of food chain and may suffer from the biomagnifications. Herrings and sardines come out as safe as they are on lower levels of the food chain. There are also vegetal options, too. Flax seed and Purslane. However, many people cannot convert the omega 3 in these vegetable oils to their more bioactive forms, EPA and DHA. Therefore fish oil is usually the best choice. T his is particularly true for people of northern European lineage.
If you’re looking for a fish oil supplement, try to look for EPA and DHA numbers, add them up together and look for a number around 650mg. Having from two to three servings of fish in a week is another option. In summary, you should afford yourself of all the advantages of taking fish oil, as it is a great addition to a healthy and balanced diet, improving overall body condition, cardiac health, muscle flexibility and even helping children with attention deficit problems!
